Is There A Way To Modify A Verizon Aircard’s Hardware, Of Any Kind, In Order To Recieve A Stronger Signal?
Previous owner of an aircard but dropped my plan due to spotty signal. I was thinking about getting another but with verizon this time. I only want to get one if there is a way to increase my signal for under or around $100.
Just the fact that you switched to verizon is going to make a HHUUGGEE difference in coverage. Verizon has a gigantic network compared to other providers, and they have done the best so far about tailoring that network for digital devices.
That being said, if you still want to boost your signal, there are a few options if your aircard has an external antenna
The easiest thing would be for you to replace said antenna with a more sensitive one. You can find these at any computer/ electronics store. However, this will only work if the aircard antenna is removable, which isn’t always the case.
The other option is to affix a metal can such as a coffee can over your antenna, in a way that makes it look roughly like a satellite dish. Then point your “dish” at the nearest cell tower. If you need instructions with this look up “cantenna” on yahoo.
Hope this helps! Seriously though, I think after you spend a couple weeks with the verizon card you will decide you don’t need any kind of boosting at all.
You can always set up an “access-point” in your home or office.http://compnetworking.about.com/cs/wirel…
